Cultural note from the author:

The swans featured in this book can be seen along the Nakagawa River and at Biwanuma Pond in Ootawara City, Tochigi Prefecture, approximately 50 kilometres from my hometown of Utsunomiya.

These swans return to the area each year and have become much-loved visitors, bringing joy to residents. Watching them gather together and interact reminds us that friendship and companionship can be found throughout the natural world.
